First Anniversary of Death of Jack Layton

Dear Friends,

On the first anniversary of Jack Layton’s death on August 22, we remember Jack Layton as an exceptional leader who fought with hope, love, and optimism to make life better for all Canadians.  Jack Layton has been an inspiration to all of us.  He has left a great legacy for us to build on.

The best way to honour Jack Layton is to continue to fight for social justice, social democracy and his vision for a better Canada.  We must also continue his work to unite all progressive Canadians under the NDP banner in order to form the federal government in 2015.

We are well positioned to do that as the federal NDP is now seen as the strong, progressive alternative to the divisive, undemocratic, heavy-handed Harper Conservative Government.  We are the Government in waiting as we fight for good jobs, quality public healthcare, improved pensions, a fairer tax system, protection of the environment, and integrity and accountability in government.

Jack Layton often reminded us: “Don’t let them tell you it can’t be done.”  We can do it.  In his memory, we can build a better, more caring Canada where no one is left behind.

Yours truly,

Brian Lynch,
President, Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry Federal NDP riding association
